The small one is a big mosquito. The big one is a robber fly. Stupid Facebook meme that only boomers believe

Came looking for a fallout reference and I must say, I'm not disappointed.

Pretty sure a radiation mutated giant mosquito is exactly a “blood bug” from the Fallout franchise.

Ah crap, I know that big on the left but forgot what it's called. It's not a mosquito and not some radioactive mutant though. Edit: Nope, I'm completely wrong. Well, no it's not a radioactive mutant. But it is a type of giant mosquito but it was found in Argentina and native to the US. On the East Coast. Where I live. So that's nice.

Yeah there's a ton of stray dogs and wildlife. Also there's thousands of people who live in range of the old power plant who also have detectable radio levels.

Last time I saw a larger then average mosquito I was told it was a male. I was also told that they don't suck blood. So I lf that's a male, most likely won't harm you, if it's a female, imagine the males...

It would actually be much better for inside situations, cause you can see the bastard and hit her with your shoe instead of playing peekaboo nightmare difficulty for an hour.

Radiation gives cancer, it doesn't make giant bugs. For that to happen we'd need a rich oxigen atmosphere, due to how bugs breathe. Sorry.

It’s the journey to the center of the earth, where big animals are small and small animals are big.

This is a robber fly (Asilidae) NOT a mosquito.

Since we live in a world saturated with disinformation, I looked this up. It’s only “corroborated” by sites like RT and content farms. The closest I could find to a respectable publication was the Smithsonian’s article on insect documentation at Chernobyl that makes no mention of anything like this. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts-culture/chernobyls-bugs-art-and-science-life-after-nuclear-fallout-180951231/
