Ohhhh this is a little hint of the Great Wave from Kanagawa in Hokusai without Gyarados and Magikarp

u/AnotherCupofJo Dec 08 '21

All those ineffective splash moves

18

u/___Roland___ Dec 08 '21

This is one of those social experiments, right?

They post three pictures of the art: in one picture a girl is holding it, one a dude is holding it and one with just the art and nothing in the background

Always works out the one with the girl gets 100 times more upvotes than the rest

27

u/Significant_Walk_664 Dec 08 '21

Nah, experiments try to confirm something. This phenomenon is well documented and fully explained. Terminology changes tho

3

u/TrickyDickyAtItAgain Dec 09 '21

Don't think so. I've seen this girl for years, she does full cosplay sets out of perler beads too. Amybytee.

0

u/PandaPangolin Dec 09 '21

Theres that one dude who does skyrim art or something, and I always notice how nobody gives him shit for posing with his art but as soon as a woman does it there are all sorts of comments about it.

1

u/jcaarow Dec 09 '21

Based on the demographics of this sub its not surprising

u/MercMcNasty Dec 08 '21

Missy pena is the author, so yes - her

21

u/AnotherDrZoidberg Dec 08 '21

Pokemon art? Pokemon shirt? Girl? To the front page it is!

7

u/samstankfinger Dec 08 '21

Anyone watch Letterkenny? she looks like Michelle Mylett

3

This is copied from original art by Missy Peña! This is her most common stolen piece so please give credit to her work. https://misspenart.com/

That’s not even the original piece. You posted a (poorly) edited copy

2

u/kieferevans Dec 09 '21

Copied, copied art*... Since this is all artwork owned by Nintendo.

4

u/CmndrJustine Dec 08 '21

I just want to say I think the perler beadwork is stelar but it is good to know where the original work comes from!

1

u/Grumar Dec 08 '21

Link to piece?

7

u/Boring-Pudding Dec 08 '21

The pixels in this photo make the entire thing look like a piece of Perler Art.

2

u/synbios16 Dec 08 '21 edited Dec 08 '21

I did the original image in beads, no pokemon

Hokusai's Great Wave off Kanagawa https://i.imgur.com/VCm036J.jpeg

I really like this wood block print. It's gotta be the most recognizable piece of japanese art.

This particular image was originally made by Missy Pena, who has revised the image several times. She's since added Mt. Fuji (which was what the painting was originally supposed to be about, a view of Fuji-san), changed the position of the Magikarp and swapped Pokemon in and out at various points.

1

u/jswitzer Dec 09 '21

When you made that, dis you glue the beads? What kind of beads and what kind of glue?

1

u/Cyno01 Dec 09 '21

Hot melt beads, you put paper over and fuse them together with a quick pass of a clothes iron.

7

u/newtypedeikun Dec 08 '21

Can't see art. Girl in way. Repost w/o girl.

-3

u/zyygh Dec 08 '21

I'll never understand why people share their art by posting a picture where 75% of the picture is not the art.

23

u/nailbunny2000 Dec 08 '21

The person posting this is not even the woman in the photo, they just know they'll get upvotes.

2

u/BoogieTheThird Dec 08 '21 edited Dec 08 '21

Weird that the only time people complain about it is if it's a female

Guys are allowed to include themselves when sharing their creative works, but if a girl does it, "most of the picture isn't even the thing you're sharing, you must just be doing it for votes and attention"

Every time.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 09 '21

[deleted]

6

u/LordSwright Dec 08 '21

Because unless it's like Henry cavill naked noones gonna care about a guy But a hot girl gets simped on

3

u/BoogieTheThird Dec 08 '21

Yes, guys are going to be weirdos in the comments, but that does not tell you anything about the person uploading the photo. And it's the person in the photo who gets called out, not the guys being weirdos in the comments.

Do you see the issue with that? We make assumptions and jump to conclusions about the poster based on how creeps in the comments are likely to react?

-1

u/bfg9kdude Dec 09 '21

Women are the prettier gender, when you want to show off artwork that's supposed to be pretty you can't have any other distractions. You would get same response if a guy posed like this in front of a lamborghini. It's not about sexism or whatever, it's about attention whoring and insecurity about the quality of your work

-1

u/BoogieTheThird Dec 09 '21

And mind reading, since we can read the mind of the poster and know why they posted it. If you're a girl, don't ever pose in the photo of something you want to share or people will immediately assume they know why you're doing something.

Incel city

1

u/bfg9kdude Dec 09 '21

No, this artwork is confirmed to be stolen, OP isn't this girl, check other comments. Even if it's not intentional, girls posing with art draw attention away from the art and monkey brain has to upvote even if it's mediocre art, they won't get any constructive criticism or feedback

1

u/BoogieTheThird Dec 09 '21

girls posing with art draw attention away from the art and monkey brain has to upvote even if it's mediocre art, they won't get any constructive criticism or feedback

Men are allowed to include themselves in the photo, but women are not

That is exactly the stupid situation that I am making fun of. What should happen though, is the GUYS being "monkey brained" should be called out; not the female in the picture. If guys aren't giving constructive criticism or feedback because, like you said, they're "monkey brained", then they are the problem. Not the girl in the photo.

Hate on the simps, not the female. This isn't a hard concept.

1

u/bfg9kdude Dec 09 '21

Guy enters tiger enclosure in a zoo, tigers walk up and eat him alive. Should we blame tigers for this or the guy that knew damn well what is in their diet? Same principle, girl posing with art know exactly what happens and they consciously include themselves in the photo with the art piece, it attracts attention not just for the art piece but also for the girl herself. I'm the third party who thinks that guy entering tiger enclosure is an idiot but also that tigers shouldn't attack the guy cuz they will get put down because of it.

1

u/Malena_my_quuen Dec 10 '21

It's because the posts that guys share with their faces in it dies in new and never reach the front page.

1

u/BoogieTheThird Dec 10 '21

Sometimes, sure, but no not always. And in the cases where they don't die in new, no one shits on the poster for including their face, so your point that most of them 'die in new' don't make any difference.

2

u/basshead17 Dec 08 '21

Fake internet points

-4

u/Thaeky Dec 08 '21

maybe because it isnt all about the picture/art itself, but also about the person behind the art?

Tiktok is the video version of this. Doesn’t matter what the fuck the topic is or what they’re doing, they could be showing off their stamp collection but as long there’s a hot girl doing it, it’ll get the views

7

u/ziostraccette Dec 08 '21

I also hate those video where thay show something interesting and fucking half of the screen is a random dude just staring at the camera.

2

u/shaunman-x Dec 08 '21

1

I just want the shirt

-29

u/WildEyss Dec 08 '21

Make this an NFT! This will sell

4

u/Robofish13 Dec 08 '21

Don’t encourage this stupid BS please. Prints will sell too, could even make it a Twitch emote on an Etsy store.

But goodness me, NFT’s are pathetic and whoever buys them is in serious trouble because it’s a brain dead move.

-2

u/highlyquestionabl Dec 09 '21

NFTs allow the creator of the piece to earn royalties on reslaes and may convey intellectual property rights. They also don't necessarily need to use tons of energy as is often claimed.

-2

u/last_kebab24 Dec 08 '21

nice art tho

-2
