While his riches can’t buy happiness or love, it can by KFC, which is essentially the same thing.

122

u/pshawny Dec 08 '21

He could have a KFC franchise in his house.

37

u/Wearer-of-Denim Dec 08 '21

He could have KFC

22

u/swedishgrabb Dec 08 '21

He could be KFC

6

u/Despair4All Dec 08 '21

It'd be be more like KFH, unless he could turn himself into a chicken first.

5

u/knarf86 Dec 08 '21

The market capitalization of Yum! Brands (parent of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and others) is $38B, and Gates is worth $136B. He could buy the whole company and still have almost $100B left over.

2

u/pshawny Dec 08 '21

I don't, but he definently adds guacamole to his tacos.

Instead of the bone on a drumstick, it's a very stiff tail.

The rat legs are overpriced, and the beak is a bit suspect.

2

u/gogeta_god05 Dec 08 '21

That tail adds that extra crunch we all like so much.

7

Especially if you have been married for as many years as he has been. Also, him and his wife have been really close and they even started their Foundation together. Iirc it also wasn't a divorce because something horrible happened between them, but they just grew apart over time and decoded to split up. So Yeah, that'd hurt a lot for quite a while, even if getting back together wouldn't be any better

Its all connected

5

u/Oddgar Dec 08 '21

I get it. Rich man bad. And like he can just wipe his tears with money or whatever.

But.

It is extraordinarily difficult for public figures to cultivate meaningful relationships with anyone, but especially those who lack social power of their own.

The difference in perceived influence causes those with the greater influence to constantly question the validity of the relationship, always wondering if it is themselves to which their partner is attracted, or their money/power/influence.

Lots of "celebrities" have expressed feeling like a social ladder for former partners.

All this to say. Being alone is tough. And even if you are incredibly wealthy, you can't buy a genuine human connection. It's one of the few things that just get harder to find the more successful you become.

And Bill is alone now. With very little hope of achieving another meaningful relationship in his lifetime.

I find that tragic.

4

u/Skrrrtdotcom Dec 08 '21

Ah yes he's a billionaire, he must be unable to feel emotions

4

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '21

I know I know, it's Bill Gates, guy's got a lotta money but everyone can get lonely yk

4

u/AtomicPiano Dec 08 '21

The fact that someone is rich doesn't mean they lack the capacity to feel pain, feel heartbreak, feel depressed when things are looking down, while he may be rich, he is still a human being with emotions, he feels the same sadness and heartbreak just like each and every one of us.

3

u/Mastersaphir Dec 08 '21

I don’t like how sarcastic this is. Money doesn’t mean happy

3

u/your_reddit_lawyerII Dec 08 '21

Why this?

Doesn't Bill Gates donate like a fuck ton to charity, and actually try to help the world?

And besides, rich people can have problems too. The existence of other (or worse) problems in no way invalidates his problems.

2

u/GoldGymCardioWorkout Dec 08 '21

u/Mr_Myopic Dec 08 '21

To those that are for him and those against him, both opinions are understandable, I personally am against him because what he stated about his worst year and shit is infuriating because us plebs have dealt with it for so much longer and it doesn’t feel fair so we take it out on him. On the other side however, they are correct that he is human and more humane that a large sum of people. He is a billionaire, but he is someone who just went through some horrible things and while his problems to us are just “oh no get the fuck over it and join the fucking club” these are still significant problems to him and we need to understand that.

TLDR - while his problems to us are just “get the fuck over it, your a fucking billionaire” they still can cause many problems emotionally and we need to understand that
