And if you study comparative anatomy you will see this everywhere!

Everything on land was made with five finger bones. Even horses have some of them left in the lower "leg" which technically is our hand, they are walking on one finger!

Horses are flipping you off 4 times simultaneously at all times

u/dodslaser Jan 22 '22

Honestly that's pretty on-brand for a horse

Right. Somewhat like how a dog's "reverse knee" on their back legs, is really just their ankle, the squishy padded part that usually rests beneath it would basically be their heel.

I feel like if trolls were real, this is what their hands would look like.

Decades ago, my father, uncle and probably some others andcI went for a walk behind my uncle's property. There, I saw the burnt, five-fingered hand of what I thought to be a person, for many, many years. A sense of calm came over me when I realized it must have been from a possum.

Or was it?

You’ve been associated with some strange humans.

3

u/Pokoirl Jan 22 '22

I saw some hands in the gym

2

u/BullFrogz13 Jan 22 '22

Fair enough, could also be a farmer or dockhand.

Hands is the standard for mammals, paws and hooves and stuff are the weird products of evolution

THANKS I HATE IT. my 3 year old niece recently met a possum at a farm-petting zoo-type thing. she maintained her distance because she determined “it is grumpy and will bite”. i am so proud of her & believe she’ll go far

I hate that these are called possums in the US. Possums are cute, Australian marsupials. This, is a very large rat.

They opossums, not possums. Both are very cute tho

5

u/oakenaxe Jan 22 '22

Opossums in the US the O is silent or sometimes omitted in error. Only species in North America is the Didelphis virginiana or colloquially as the North American opossum.

Fun fact! The opossum (one of the English languge's few loanwords from Powhatan Algonquin, alongside raccoon) came first; the Australian mammals got their name because of their resemblance to the North American ones.

1

u/ubertappa Jan 22 '22

Ours look nothing like these though

0

u/owlparliamentarian Jan 22 '22

Blame the English colonists for their poor mammal recognition skills, I guess!

You get handjobs from your drugged up Opossums don’t you?

All Tomorrows was historical fiction

You'll find the same bone structure in 400 million year old fish fossils.

Opossums are adorable and so misunderstood.

1

u/ValkriM8B Jan 22 '22

That's clearly a Rodent of Unusual Size.

You should see whale fingers, very scary due to how close they are

"The design is very human"

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '22

Wow, I did not need to see that

Ever

1

u/Gaumir Jan 22 '22

Wow, you American humans must have really weird hands then

1

u/makingbank247 Jan 22 '22

1

u/chev327fox Jan 22 '22

I… don’t have hands like that.

1

u/theiosif Jan 22 '22

Well, thanks for adding that to my nightmare's resume.

1

u/comicmuse1982 Jan 22 '22

Just give the possum the parsnip, god damn it.

1

u/pintofBassyouth Jan 22 '22
