Been playing scroll the Steam games list to see if anything peaks my interest for a few weeks now.

Still haven't beaten it yet.

u/I_Still_Use_Pentium4 Dec 22 '21

I know what you mean. I’ve really wanted to get back into pc gaming and have been playing warzone and 2042 but none of it really satisfies 😔

2

u/CamelX Dec 23 '21

How about Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition if you like FPS games with good graphics?

1

u/I_Still_Use_Pentium4 Jan 01 '22

will give it a try!

Escape from Tarkov since patch 12.12 and the wipe.

Dota 2 with the Aghanims Labyrinth update and grinding my way through the new battle pass.

6

u/DazingF1 Dec 21 '21

How hard is it to get into Tarkov? All my mates have switched to it from Warzone (they already played it non-stop before) and I've watched a couple of streamers playing it, but it seems like a super tough game to get into. I'd hate to spend the €40 and end up hating it.

9

u/out_of_toilet_paper Dec 21 '21

I won't lie, it's not particularly easy to get into, but that's part of the appeal. The game has unique depth to it and will take a lot of playing to learn properly.

I had no interest at all in the game about 2 years ago until there was a sale and my friend convinced me to get it. Now, I believe it's one of the best shooters on the market.

5

u/FoldyFlap Dec 22 '21

Yes, it is super tough to get into. But, I highly doubt you’ll hate it if you like shooters. It’s pretty much a human hunting simulator and MMORPG

3

u/Jondooit84 Dec 21 '21

I read Ape Escape and got really excited there was a new one. :(

Oblivion-The shivering Isles. I have been meaning to finally play it for so long. Decided to go for it this weekend and loving it so far.

2

u/Steelshatter Dec 23 '21

I'm looking forward to doing a full Oblivion playthrough when Skyblivion comes out one day.

9

u/Richo32 Dec 21 '21

Sands of Slazaar. Not the best use of a 3080 but I love Mount and Blade style games.

3

u/YourMomIsWack Dec 21 '21

How do you like it? I'm looking for a new game with a strategy focus.

2

u/Richo32 Dec 22 '21

The translation is poor but I've really enjoyed it. It's like Mount and Blade where you recruit a band of followers and go around town to town doinging quests making coin and getting stronger. I picked it up recently on steam sales for 12 AUD which is about 9 USD. It has a Chinese theme to it and it's high fantasy.

My next character will have nothing but beasts in the army and I'm keen to try take over the world haha.

There even a bar fighting mini game you can level up

2

u/Jimitri1277 Dec 21 '21

I've just seen a bunch of reviews come out for Starsector, might want to check it out. Mount and blade in space is the elevator pitch

1

u/Richo32 Dec 21 '21

Cheers I'll have a look.

2

u/Cockblockuly Dec 22 '21

Really like these threads because of this. Never heard of this game but i'm looking into it now.

Tomorrow I plan to buy all three dark souls as I have never played them. Well I tried dark souls 3 once but was not interested. However after playing halo infinite on legendary, it sparked a desire to play those types of games. I put like 3 hours in mortal shell this week and I really want dark souls.

Recently though it’s been halo infinite, mortal shell, and world war 3! All great games!

Also halo infinite is the first single player game I’ve played and beaten since… well I can’t even remember. My depression got so bad that I really don’t even enjoy most games anymore. I buy so many yet never touch them because I just don’t feel like pressing play anymore. It really sucks so I’m glad nostalgia pushed me to try halo again.

Recently been playing Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4, and oldie but a goodie. Never got the chance to play it when I was younger but I'm enjoying it now!

u/supercow_ Dec 21 '21

I returned to cyberpunk to finish it off after a 6 month hiatus.

I also picked up the game Oxygen Not Included since I like sim games and that one had really good reviews.

4

u/griffmeister Dec 22 '21

Project Zomboid, just made a massive update and it’s so much fun

2

u/Kinetiks Dec 23 '21

did they had a UI scaling option?

4

u/mrcarlton Dec 22 '21

Halo Infinite. Beat the campaign earlier this week and been getting back into SWAT. Seems like the skill varies wildly or maybe the net code is bad on some games.

3

u/Pepper_Cactus Dec 23 '21

The net code in Halo Infinite is one of the worst I’ve experienced in many years

2

u/CPOx Dec 23 '21

As a fan of SWAT in the previous games, I cannot get into Infinite SWAT. I feel like it is a net code issue. I can go from a 1.5 average KDR in Reach SWAT to something awful like 0.5 KDR in Infinite in the same gaming session. Maybe I’m just bad!

2

u/mrcarlton Dec 23 '21

The more I play the more I think it could be players coming from other games like cod or something and they are just better than me and also the maps seem to be more open with hardly any good defensible positions unless everyone on your team is on the same page which rarely happens

4

u/RiskOfRains Dec 21 '21

SMT5. GoNNER 2. Gato Robo. Amid Evil. And planning on playing like a dragon through gamepass

Adventures in backloggery continue as queues for my server in FF XIV consistently hover between 2-3k.

Recently played through Grim Dawn, Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods for the first time despite owning Grim Dawn since Early-Access. Fantastic Arpg, best I've played since Torchlight II. Took me 80 hours to complete all three, haven't touched the end-game at all.

Have since installed Blazblue Calamity Trigger and Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. I'm a pretty casual fighting game fan but I enjoy playing through the arcade and story modes in BBCT. Almost bailed on DDDA at the early escort mission (42% of all people who played on Steam didn't make it to Gran Soren judging by the achievement) but stuck with it, seems like it might get interesting.

4

u/EvanidErmine Dec 21 '21

I keep getting sucked back into BTD6. The game goes on sale for $3 (and below) very often, so I've bought a bunch of my friends some copies as well.

Pretty easy to just pick up and play whenever, constant updates, and seasonal items. I do play it much less now than I did in the beginning (playing a game for 1000+ hours will do that to you :P )

There's a new map I've been trying to get all badges on, a hero got a new skin I really like, and the races/odysseys are always lots of fun too. One of the best values in my gaming collection, easily.

5

If you're an avid enthusiasts when it comes to RTS desktop view games. You can not go wrong with Foxhole! Not the biggest community for a MMO RTS. But this game was introduced to me by my brother two years ago. Was skeptical at first. But once you get into the rhythm of playing as a large faction and communicating with your fellow player or players. The game dynamic is phenomenal! From the ability to choose what combat class suits your style of game play. To being that one person or squad/clan that could literally change the tide of a war is absolutely amazing. I normally don't put over 1000 hours into a game. But it was a 1000 plus hours well invested during 2020 and the surge of the ongoing pandemic. Decided to pop in for a friendly hello. And I sure as hell got a warm welcome from the veterans who became quite found of me barking orders over the mic haha! Great game. I highly suggest giving it a go or two 👍

Baldur’s Gate 3 and AoE 4

1

u/jaloveast1k Dec 22 '21

BG is still in early access right? How long is it as of now?

1

u/mrsinatra777 Dec 22 '21

Yeah and it sounds like it is going to be that way for a while. It still has a ton of content and is a lot of fun. Hopefully the full will be released this summer.

Simultaneously replaying Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Sekiro.

Also playing a DS1 mod called "Shadow of the Eclipse" which is similar to Scholar of the First Sin edition of DS2 in that it's mostly the same game, but many enemies and bosses and items have been updated/changed/moved around. The late-game areas that felt unfinished like Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith are totally revamped and feel like proper levels now, which is pretty sick. I like most of the changes, but there's some choices that I dislike. Overall I would recommend it to big fans of Dark Souls 1. Currently only available for Prepare to Die Edition.

3

u/SerClysm Dec 23 '21

Playing Sekiro with those games must be painful. I had to take a few months of break after the souls games to unlearn my dodging habits. That shit kills you in Sekiro

2

u/auwsmit R5 3600 | 2070S Dec 23 '21

That shit kills you in Sekiro

Oh yeah, that was true for my first playthrough. The first 30 hours were very painful and I wasn't sure if I hated it, and then it clicked near the end of the game and became dramatically easier. Now it's among my favorite games and I can breeze through Sekiro faster and easier than any Souls game, and I'm actually getting interested in challenge runs and mods at this point.

I think because I have hundreds of hours in and multiple playthroughs of all these games, it's a bit easier for me to shift back and forth between them. Actually one of the reasons I'm doing this and why I'm enjoying it is because it forces me to really understand the specific mechanics and differences between the games.

Personally I find DS3 to be the hardest of all the games, and that could just be because I have the least playtime and fewest playthroughs of it, but it feels like a weird inbetween of DS1 and Bloodborne and it never fully clicks for me. All the enemies are pretty fast and aggressive and there are a lot of them like BB, but dodging is more costly than BB and you can't parry as easily or safely from a distance like BB. Then in DS1 you could play slowly/deliberately or defensively and it was almost always effective, but shields have been heavily nerfed in DS3 and many enemies/bosses are so fast that fast reaction times are more of a requirement. I guess the bigger emphasis on action makes DS3 one of the more skill-based and satisfying games to conquer, but it also makes me more frustrated and anxious than other Souls games personally, lol.

u/Lobanium Dec 23 '21

GTFO. So good!

2

u/badboybilly42582 Dec 23 '21

That one caught my interest. I'm assuming you need to play with a well coordinated fireteam with chat? Seems like this isn't a game you play with randos via matchmaking?

1

u/Lobanium Dec 23 '21 edited Dec 23 '21

Yeah, you pretty much need 4 coordinated people. If you don't have friends to play with, do A1 with bots to learn the mechanics. You probably won't finish it, but you'll learn a lot. Then use the official discord to find a group to do it with. Don't use the in-game matchmaking.

1

u/badboybilly42582 Dec 23 '21

Yea that’s what I figured. Thanks.

1

u/Rauhaan_ Dec 23 '21

Actually you dont need friends to actually play there is an extreaaaamly active discord server with people that play all the time. Most people understand that its a serious game so they play serious its actually fun as fk with randos

10

u/sleepavenue Dec 21 '21

I finally began my Cyberpunk 2077 play through. After finishing FarCry 6, Cyberpunk feels really really good especially in the performance department

1

u/Shindigira Dec 21 '21

What did you think of Far Cry 6 vs other Far Cry's?

5

u/Cockblockuly Dec 22 '21

Not the guy you responded to but played it as well and i can say it's the best one since 3. Actually cared about the story which is suprising for a ubisoft game.

1

u/sleepavenue Dec 23 '21

It was pretty fun. It wasn’t anything special but I do think it’s worth playing. I have about 40 hours total play time in FC6. I actually haven’t played a FC game since FC4. It’s good fun if you have nothing else to play or need a break from Multiplayer shooters like COD

-12

u/JohhnyBAMFUtah Dec 21 '21

Prolly was shit. I heard multiple times from friends the storyline is heavily influenced by recent US politics, which really turns me off for it. Gus Fring is the only thing making me think about getting it.

19

u/Warborri Dec 21 '21

Always great to hear opinions from people who never played it lol

-2

u/JohhnyBAMFUtah Dec 21 '21

No clue why it used a different acc to respond lol

-5

u/No_Spite3212 Dec 21 '21

I was sharing opinions of friends who HAVE played it and said it was shit. That’s why I inferred that it’s probably shit.

2

u/Lmbxlmb Dec 21 '21

Ahh hopefully it shits all over Trump in that sense - if so they can take my money!

0

u/JohhnyBAMFUtah Dec 21 '21

For me personally games are an escape, so that ruins it for me lol.

Dota 2 - Aghanim's Labyrinth is a really fun event, even if feels sometimes too difficult (playing solo with randoms).

2

u/ImFranny Dec 22 '21

Coming back to Warframe to explore some of the new frames and updates from the past few months. The new quest is really good!

Other than that, a little bit of Rocket League training and comp grind everyday.

I've been slacking for single players lately but I still have a really cool moded Skyrim playthrough I enjoy a couple hours per week.

2

u/dnthatethejuice Dec 22 '21

Death’s Door

I picked it up on EGS for $5 ($10 coupon during the current sale) and couldn’t be happier. Took me about 14 hours to 100% the game. The story and the gameplay are extremely well done, it kind of felt like a top down Zelda game. The game itself is beautiful as well.

The only downsides to me are that the map can be a bit confusing trying to get around and the magic abilities are all pretty similar with the exception of the last one.

2

u/stuckinthepow Dec 22 '21

Age of Empires 4

Squad

PUBG

Might install Cyberpunk and try it out this weekend. Just upgraded to a 6900XT so I can finally play the game.

2

u/Omuropherous Dec 22 '21

I've been switching between Insurgency Sandstorm, Borderlands 2, and Kingdom Come Deliverance

Good mix up to switch between

2

u/Dangerous_Pizza0k Dec 23 '21

rainbow six Siege! is a really addictive game. I’ve been playing for two years now, but the beginning was a little hard to learn to play well.

2

u/CJohnstone90 Dec 23 '21

I am looking for a cross-platform game that my 2 son’s and I can play together. We enjoy Shooter/adventure games but just looking for a change of pace.

Currently we mostly play Apex and Fortnite together, but getting burnt out on the BR aspect. A game that you progress through/get stronger/skill up/level up play together kind of game is what I’m looking for.

I play PC and them on their switches

2

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '21

Cyberpunk 2077 (it was on sale) & Fortnite.

1

u/_rtxgeforce_ Dec 21 '21

I've been playing a lot of valorant for some reason, I don't know why but every other game to me rn feels boring.

Lemme hear your thoughts

1

u/Lollosaurus_Rex Dec 22 '21

Battlefield V because, honestly, it's a lot of fun. The gunplay is simply addictive.

2

u/I_Still_Use_Pentium4 Dec 22 '21

Have you had a chance to play 2042? I prefer bfv as it has better gameplay

2

u/Lollosaurus_Rex Dec 23 '21

There are loads of reasons I won't be trying out 2042:

  • I don't want to pay money for an unfinished experience

  • Teamplay is worse

  • Specialist system is a downgrade from classes in so many ways

  • any weapon-any "class"/character also ruins balance

  • maps are apparently wide-open and awful

  • few weapon choices

  • indistinguishable teams and ugly appearances

My problems with the game aren't just the "skin-deep" bugs and glitches, I have serious problems with their design choices which I am sure they won't be fixing.

3

u/I_Still_Use_Pentium4 Dec 23 '21

Yeah the maps are terrible, I already have ea play pro so it’s included with my subscription, I thought I’d have a go and I’m glad I didn’t spend money on it

1

u/jagreen3 Dec 22 '21

I have and loved BFV, 2042 feels like BFV gunplay and modern warfare gunplay mixed together, it's not amazing. Feels decent. Can be better. Sniping feels great. All guns but snipers kinda need rebalancing IMO. The games maps is what makes it feel so sluggish. Love the player count. Don't like the need for vehicles

Waiting on my vacation before i really start to get sucked in, but i’m planning on Oblivion and Halo Infinite on my Acer Nitro 5

1

u/jondySauce Ryzen 5 5600X | RTX 3080 FE Dec 22 '21

Just finished up a Halo Infinite Legendary run. Pretty fun but I feel like playing at a lower difficulty would allow me to play a more fun style instead of just hiding behind shit waiting for my shield to regen.

3

u/mrcarlton Dec 22 '21

Yea, whenever a new Halo comes out I play it once on normal to just get the hang of it then I usually do a Heroic run. Heroic feels very rewarding. Legendary is self torture for me so I havent really done that for a few Halo games now.

1

u/jondySauce Ryzen 5 5600X | RTX 3080 FE Dec 22 '21

I think playing ranked/competitive shooters have gotten me into this mindset that games need to be punishing. But Halo was less enjoyable than it could have been and I've been stunlocked on a Doom Eternal nightmare run for a long time now. I think I just need to start enjoying myself in single player games.

1

u/DeaconStGone Dec 22 '21

CoD Vanguard and Days Gone.

I know CoD gets a lot of flack but I still enjoy it. Switching from console to PC a couple years back really made me enjoy playing again as it looks so much better on PC and I play better with M&K than controller.

Days Gone just because it's one of my all time favorite single player games and even though I've beat it about four times now, I still really enjoy it. I just wish there was a massive open world co-op zombie game where you build your base and recruit survivors, deal with enemy camps, etc. Like GTAO but zombies instead of pedestrians.

1

u/TheNevers Dec 23 '21

Isn’t that game state of decay?

1

u/DeaconStGone Dec 23 '21

Kind of but no. I'm talking about a lobby full of people like GTAO.

1

u/W7DiCe Dec 23 '21

Been playing Cossacks Back to War. Such a great game, everytime I it I go back to my childhood days. Once you play a couple of scenarios it boils down the same way so I starte Age of Empires 3 where every civilization has somewhat different playstyle. Im open for suggestions on other games that are set in that era, from 15th till 19th century.

1

u/UncertainMorale Dec 23 '21

Nothing much, I've lost interest in games after about about 35 years of trying to find a holy grail.

Satisfactory pissed me off, it just takes so long.

My go to game now is 2v2 in minion masters.

1

u/GrifflesMC Dec 23 '21

Far Cry 3. Ik it's an old game at this point, but I just replayed it. Never finished all other side missions back then, so I started a new game, and I'm completing it.

1

u/teksti-tv666 Dec 23 '21

Started witcher 3 again after I got stuck on a roof being attacked by these big hell hound things on the PS4. This time I'm playing on PC with DLC and really enjoying it. Also playing some GTA V With chaos mod8

1

u/CutieLolli Dec 23 '21

Unfortunately, due to problems with the motherboard, I had to postpone the computer, as I was waiting for a new part. But I found an opportunity to while away the time playing games on mobile phones and the game in which I spent the most time was HR
