Did you change any keyboard configuration/language settings recently? The last time a key was doing something that it shouldn't, it was because I changed a language setting.
And another time it was just the keyboard itself that had died.
Edit: Also, if typing with your physical keyboard is getting annoying, you could try the pre-installed virtual keyboard on windows

He might have changed the language by the shortcut. Win + shift should be the one. If not shift + alt.

How to fix keyboard typing wrong characters/letters
https://windowsreport.com/keyboard-types-wrong-letters/
Hell, it's best I can do.

Press your Scroll Lock (ScrLck) button and see if that helps. If you have a laptop, press the "FN"/"FN Lock" button.

I absolutely love people with keyboard problems typing on the internet, there should be a reddit for that!

Sounds like water damage, bud. My keyboard did something similar except it was the tab button, after I had spilled ranch all over it.

Have you tried unplug and replug the keyboard? Or did you installed drivers recently?

did you restart after
Windows has an input buffer
So if its filled with "please smash - one billion times"
Its not going to empty without a restart2

I'm sorry but keyboard issues are just the funniest reads. Glad your issue got resolved

When you say back
I assume you mean left
Is this identical to what control+backspace does?

Lenovo laptop? I had it as well. It's related to the touch pad. I never managed to isolate the problem, but it always appeared immediately after touchpad use.

Are you sure you have installed the proper keyboard drivers and are using the correct layout?
3
u/SentientSquirrel Mar 25 '22
I've had this happen once or twice, restarting the computer fixed it for me. I assume you already tried that.

If the computer is a uk computer it will need to be on that keyboard. But its just a suggestion. Not sure if its the issue. Otherwise it sounds like the keyboard may be busted or the driver has been messed up. Maybe try uninstalling the driver and restarting. Or rolling back the driver

I've had many issues with my keyboard, i can tell you that using dashes is much faster instead of copy pasting space you dumbell

All 10 of those upvotes? Farming Karma hard, just like your comment tried to do and failed?
-5
u/JollyTurbo1 Mar 25 '22
It had over 100 upvotes when I commented. These posts always get big (for r/techsupport's standards) so it's easy karma. Just look at the top posts of all time. Several of them are people tying weirdly

u/MaliciousMal Mar 25 '22
"typing weirdly" aka having issues with their keyboards. Boy that truly deserves to be a conspiracy theory. They're all working together to farm karma so they can take over the keyboard world by displaying their super ultra keyboard that will never ever mess up.
Also, the people who had issues had it set in another language because they were in another country where English isn't the most spoken language.

u/JollyTurbo1 Mar 25 '22
I never said it was a conspiracy (nice strawman argument). I said it's an easy way to farm for karma on this subreddit (as you can see by the top posts). People who want more karma will have seen that these posts get a decent number of upvotes and will try to replicate it by doing something else. I'll ask again, why don't these people just type it from their phone? Or use an on-screen keyboard on their PC so their post is easier to read.
One of the top posts on this sub is literally in Japanese, yet the title isn't just random characters, it's correctly translated Japanese

u/MaliciousMal Mar 25 '22
It's not a straw man argument, I don't think you know what that means. I'm addressing the subject here and informing you of what happened, you're ignoring that and pretending that you don't know anything about it because you want to believe it's some super big conspiracy that these people are just karma farmers. Why are they karma farmers? According to you, because having something wrong with your keyboard means you're farming karma - even though you could literally just go post a reposted image on other subs to get 100k karma within a couple days whereas these accounts don't have that.
See, you're making a false argument in order to prove that you're right even though we both know you're not. Look, I get it, you're upset that you don't get as much karma as these people for your posts but it doesn't mean much man as it's just internet points.

Nothing ever happens, everyone is always lying. Sounds like problems you need to bring up at therapy. Personally, I can't believe people never read sub rules and expect not to get deleted/banned.
