Was that guy shot in the head?

387

u/BanChri Dec 08 '21 edited Dec 08 '21

Looks like he might have been, but the pistol is probably 9mm and given how fast his head jerked, it hit the side of his forehead. A skull can deflect a glancing 9mm quite easily. As for the "bulletproof glass", its just acrylic, you can see one hole on the bottom-right of the blue rectangle, and briefly appears appears as a white dot against the black of target dummy #1's clothes, before being lost to compression.

Cough screen for Covid?

17

u/soCalBIGmike Dec 09 '21

Nah, this is an older video that’s made the rounds a few times over the years.

9

u/purpan- Dec 09 '21

Can also tell by the permanent metal slide-thru tray for cash and cards to slip through, that acrylic is permanent.

51

u/StrikingPerception2 Dec 08 '21

They make those same acrylic glass pieces that can stop a 9. I wonder how the employees feel they got the bottm of the barrel

53

u/BanChri Dec 08 '21

The bulletproof stuff is expensive and needs solid mounting on all sides. This is just a sheet of acrylic to make people feels safe from covid, not a serious anti-theft meaure.

10

u/ImBaaaaaaaaaaack Dec 09 '21

No, I think this is one of those permanent set-ups they've always used in bad neighborhoods. See the steel "moat" under the plexiglass for the cash/CC/Debit cards?

2

u/Chapaz- Dec 09 '21

You can hear it’s acrylic it would have more depth to the sound if it was bullet proof it definitely sounds like plastic look

Yeah I know two people who have divots in their head from getting shot at that same range with 9mm.

104

u/ImBaaaaaaaaaaack Dec 09 '21

You might want to rethink the direction your life is heading.

57

u/NefariousnessStreet9 Dec 09 '21

Lmaooooooooo I was thinking "how tf do you know 2 people that have been shot in the head....with a 9 mm and are still alive?"

53

u/mermiss1 Dec 09 '21

3

u/CollierJKing Dec 09 '21

Hey best not to assume nothin nowadays 😬🤷‍♂️😂

10

u/G_Viceroy Dec 09 '21

For bonus points idk anyone who was killed with a 9mm that I know of. I was a hood rat for 15 years so I'm sure I know someone but the people I know of all lived. One kid got shot in the jaw. The bullet stayed in for like 9 days idk why they couldn't remove it but it popped out in the prison shower. 9mm is a pretty shitty bullet.

5

u/FMJwhiskey Dec 09 '21

Not if you use hollowpoints. Its the same caliber most people are killed by police with.

6

u/Liesthroughisteeth Dec 09 '21

As well as the militaries for decades and decades around the world. Might have more to do with people that are untrained, not too bright and probably cannot even hit a stationary toilet.

2

u/G_Viceroy Dec 09 '21

Hollow points are designed to be fatal. The police use the excuse that it's to keep from over penetration and hitting anyone behind them. But looking over videos from the past 10 years I think we all know why they want hollow points.

2

u/FMJwhiskey Dec 09 '21

Well no shit. They have less than lethal options and a handgun ain't it. If they use lethal force they have pretty good odds of killing you.

1

u/G_Viceroy Dec 09 '21

You would think they would have the good enough odds covered from putting enough lead down range to build an atomic bomb shelter.

Yeah they both went down like a sack of rocks and woke up way later. Both top of forehead. I saw one of them he was taking my brothers car. Dude hopped out the bushes and blasted him like a ninja. My brothers car was impounded for 6 months as evidence. He didn't wake up until after the ambulance hauled him off like 30 minutes later. So he was really out cold we thought he was dead. No one could wake him up or anything. Really scary.

3

Damn you think a skull could do that? Talk about a hard head. It’s possible he got shot through cheeks of his mouth.

5

u/CircleBackMurray Dec 09 '21

A cop I knew had a female deputy he worked with get assaulted by a man while she was doing a report - he jumped into her cruiser to rape her. She apparently was able to get her 9mm up to his head and fired a shot. It merely slowed him down. As he attempted to continue she was able to fight to get the gun up to his head again and shot him in exactly the same spot driving the first bullet into his head and killed him.

I don't know a lot about guns, but that story has always resonated with me when I've contemplated buying one. I guess .40 or .45 it will have to be.

18

u/Jwast Dec 09 '21

No sir, that officer likely just blasted his jaw off, no other handgun caliber would have made a difference.

The FBI not too long ago switched to 9mm from .40 cal because despite anecdotal evidence from people with hard ons for larger caliber handguns, 9mm was actually far more effective. They published a massive study compiling 5-10 years of data for shootings and determined that handgun caliber just really didn't matter, shot placement was really the only thing that mattered. Even the wound cavities and penetration with modern ammunition were all almost identical, the determining factor was that 9mm had less recoil and on average 9mm firearms have way higher capacity so it was way more likely between those two things that an effective shot would land on their target.

1

u/CircleBackMurray Dec 09 '21

Well I'm positive she didn't shoot his jaw as the story was impressive that she jackhammered the first shot further into his brain.

Far more likely was the angle and his size. He apparently was a very large man. Something around 6'6 and 350, very aggressive with priors.

That study you referenced is impressive. Maybe that's the reason 9mm are so common and ammunition is apparently hard to come by.

6

u/Jwast Dec 09 '21

9mm is definitely the most used handgun caliber and possibly most used over all caliber in the world.

My guess would be there was an issue with the round itself. It could have been a squib round I suppose, which is just a round that didn't have enough powder in it and just barely made it out of the barrel, squibs are sometimes so weak they don't even make it out of the barrel at all. There's definitely no way a properly loaded center fire round of really any caliber couldn't penetrate a human skull at that range, fired perpendicular to their head, something else must have been wrong.

I've personally seen deer killed by headshots from .22 lr at 30+ yards and most people I know that slaughter their own pigs use .22lr to put them down. I've even known a couple that use .22 shorts that are, I believe, the weakest rounds still in production today and pig skulls are even slightly thicker than humans from what I've read.

2

u/nuck_forte_dame Dec 09 '21

Thicker and geometrically stronger.

A skull can deflect a glancing 9mm quite easily.

Excuse me, what? Have you been playing Fallout: New Vegas too much? a .22 can penetrate the skull (albeit at the temple), a 9mm will not bounce off even the most dense of skulls unless thrown by hand.

5

He didn't hand over the money. It's in his left hand, he bends down and grabs the gun with his right, then drops the money.

5

u/Special_EDy Dec 09 '21

Desert Eagle point five oh

2

u/HouseBishop Dec 09 '21

That's not something you want to test generally. The robbers guns both look like striker-fired guns, meaning no hammer or safety. Even with hammer fired guns, almost all of them are double action meaning they will fire even if the hammer is not "cocked"

26

u/not_sick_not_well Dec 09 '21

I've heard a lot of times the guns are either not loaded, or replicas. It's all for intimidation. Hence the reason they just ran off rather than returning fire. disclaimer, don't quote me on this..

I used to work at a local liquor store and was once robbed at gunpoint. We did hourly drops so there was maybe a max of $100 in the register. Dude comes in and starts demanding money, armed with what looked like an old Luger. Only thing was, you could see the orange paint inside the barrel. He just sprayed the outside black. But still, I wasn't gonna test it. Not my money anyway.

So I take drawer out and just set it on the counter, and he's scraping out the cash and says "go empty the safe", and I do. Came back out with prob $3-4000 and he was just, gone.

The best part is he was caught within maybe an hour. Why? Because it was a fresh snow and the cops literally just followed his footprints. This dumbass didn't even walk 2 blocks before he decided to sit down in an alley and start counting his "haul". The cops came back and returned approximately $75 to us.

Fucking crack heads, i tell ya

8

u/classypassygassy Dec 09 '21

What happened to the rest of the money? Did the cops steal it or did he spend it?

18

u/not_sick_not_well Dec 09 '21

That was all he took. When I came out with the safe stash the dude was already gone. I just put it back. In retrospect I could've lied and pocketed a few grand, but I have morals

There’s 0 red string of anything, one of the dudes braids comes out of his hood when he turns after the cashier shoots

-12

u/FrankPrankster Dec 08 '21

That was his hair. Pretty sure no shots go through the bullet proof glass. It actually looks like he takes a ricochet himself with the last shot.

31

u/TheRealRach Dec 08 '21

Im pretty this was a conveniece store, it looks like that basic covid barrier

9

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '21

Yes it was a COVID Barrier. Inspected it, the bullet went through and shot him on the Head or Neck

5

u/FrankPrankster Dec 08 '21

It has the money dish under it... Pretty sure it's permanent

8

u/DeathKringle Dec 08 '21

Notice how there’s no damage to the barrier? For bullet proof glass you get a cloud that shows up in the glass as it destroys the first barrier and mushrooms the round and sticks.

Notice the barrier remains perfectly clear indicating the round likely traveled right through whatever it was.

It’s like a plexi type barrier that can be perm but was not bullet proof as you’d see the rounds and a good 3-5” diameter cloud in the material around the round.

Notice the lack of it entirely.

8

u/Dabber710710 Dec 08 '21

Yeah, getting shot in the head isn’t like in the movies where there’s an instant blood splatter shooting out that’s definitely hair.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '21 edited Dec 08 '21

If it touches your face, and you quickly turn, it will slingshot the blood and splat it. In the movies they never turn but there's still Splat so IK what you mean. But I'm pretty sure that point blank, he must be a Fallout Player if he misses that 99% Hit Chance. And if that was hair, it won't be that many hair going out of your Hoodie.

Edit: just inspected it, it was his Hair, notice that after that splat there's no blood on the floor, but he was still shot in the neck or head it's hard to tell. So it's still a Chicken running with his head off type of situation

2

u/[deleted] Dec 08 '21

Inspected it, yes it is confirmed that it is his hair, though your theory makes no sense. First of all if that was Blood Splat, there should be a Blood stain on the floor. Second is IDK if the store owner would buy a Bullet Proof Glass and not telling the Workers. If they did told them then he shouldn't be worried about the Robbers right?

But the dude was still shot in the Neck or Head it's hard to tell but that's still a running Headless Chicken type of scenario right there

9

u/Crypto-Hypto Dec 08 '21

5

28

u/Longjumping-Link-670 Dec 08 '21

He shot as soon as he cocked the gun back holy shit this ain’t his first rodeo.

19

u/don_rubio Dec 08 '21 edited Dec 09 '21

This guy either had no idea what he was doing or was in full panic mode, which is understandable. But at no point in this video did he demonstrate that he knew how to handle a gun.

For starters, he’s shooting a double action pistol, meaning he didn’t need to cock it back manually. Which he realized when he accidentally pulled the trigger in the middle of trying to rack the slide. And because he wasn’t expecting the recoil he nearly dropped the gun just before fumbling with it to move it to his right hand. And then to stabilize his shot, he grabbed his wrist instead of gripping the pistol with both hands. I’d believe you if you said this guy has never held a gun in his life.

6

u/Mayhemic-Destruction Dec 09 '21

Hes probably never been in a life or death situation with his gun and with the nerves he handled himself well

6

u/JMPship Dec 09 '21

You not taking into consideration how scared the clerk is. You would have to do a lot of training to overcome your nerves in this situation.

I was in a cab accident with a colleague and he could not figure out how to take off his seatbelt for 3 minutes after the crash. He completely lost composure.

Panic will make you do plenty of weird things.

He missed. He barely had a grip on the first shot . The gun went from his right hand and ended up in his left. I shot aT a kid at about 6 ft away. Thought I missed because him and his buddy ran off. But after the cops came and investigated they found blood on top of the hood of my car and the slug was on the ground. The bullet went right thru his shoulder. Cops put out an apb at the surrounding hospitals and they caught him on the way to UNC hospital which was 40 miles away.

2

u/RadioactiveToxinz Dec 10 '21

15

u/dln1987 Dec 08 '21

Why would you bother putting your life at risk for a shop

89

u/UncleBeausTooth Dec 08 '21

probably shop owner sick of this shit. But yea, I agree. Not worth risking your life. Although, I have seen vids where the clerk does everything he's told and the dickheads still murder them.

28

u/AlgoHodler Dec 08 '21

This is sadly so true. In our old neighborhood there was a corner store staffed by younger Nepalese students and one did everything he was told and the piece of shit still shot and killed him. The clerk was a lovely and immensely talented young man. It was horrible.

If a few people stand up then more stand up.

If we’re all standing up, the wolves won’t be able to prey on us.

Thats how to get killed.

Keeping people living in that fear is how the predators win

It’s probably his shop and is tired of shitty people.... A lot of people get fed up and think you know life would be amazing if these people got what they deserve... Really crazy though, drawing your gun when they all-ready have there’s on you is extremely dangerous. He was lucky.

10

u/ChooChooTrain66 Dec 08 '21

Yes, but he had the buffer of the initiative in that moment when they’re waiting for the cash, and he realized it. The person taking the initiative in the moment can almost always be faster. Definitely risky though. I think that’s what was taking him so long to gather the cash, deciding whether or not to go for his weapon.

3

u/SmallCheasyD Dec 08 '21

Might be his shop, might be the third time he has been robbed in three months.

7

u/DustPalacePapa Dec 08 '21

you have no way of knowing if they are going to get what they want and shoot you. it happens. I see this as self defense, not shop defense.

3

u/Timah158 Dec 08 '21

Regardless of whether or not the dude owns the shop, it's still a threat to his life. He has no reason to believe that the perps won't just shoot him even if he does everything they say. Why he would continue to work at a store where he has to conceal a gun for protection though is beyond me.

5

u/John-Sobieski Dec 08 '21

There is a store in my city that has bullet holes in the door frame purposefully left there as a reminder to criminals that if they try to rob the place they will be shot. They haven't been robbed since they killed the last robber.

8

u/timcooksdick Dec 08 '21

Cause you have integrity? Not saying I would’ve, but also why knock the choice to combat evil doings

u/CIADarkSauce Dec 08 '21

So what you mean to say is that youre easy to rob.. noted.

-6

u/dln1987 Dec 08 '21

I mean, where I live we don’t have guns and in my 30+ years on earth I haven’t had one pulled on me, nor been robbed. So… maybe? Who knows.

7

u/CIADarkSauce Dec 08 '21

We'll hopefully your life stays humble and virtuous. I was raised in an unfavorable neighborhood. It's not like it was an everyday or even an every month thing. But I have gotten off work and watched a car shoot up one of my neighbors house. A couple years before that, and for 2 years in a row, someone was breaking into houses stealing Christmas presents. Someone came and burned down someone's house in my neighborhood. I don't live in those conditions anymore, but exposure will change people's ideologies.

4

u/dln1987 Dec 08 '21

That’s some heavy shit. Sorry you have had those experiences, can’t imagine it. The UK (where I am) just never has any violent crime like that, just the occasional gang related stabbing. Anything more extreme is really, really rare.

2

u/CIADarkSauce Dec 08 '21

I understand why people don't like guns, but they are here, so I also understand the need for them for good people trying to protect themselves from bad people trying to take what they can from you, your life if they can't have your property.

3

u/BrettBenn88 Dec 08 '21

You literally have no go zones on London where it's so bad not then the police will show up to help you.

4

u/dln1987 Dec 08 '21

We literally don’t, that’s a well known lie.

0

u/Dopamine_Complex Dec 08 '21

No you guys just have crazy foreigners that attack you with machetes.

-2

u/s67ders Dec 08 '21

Yeah it’s called living in any given big city in America lol get over your “upbringings” and “ideologies” 🤣

4

u/CIADarkSauce Dec 08 '21

How about you give up yours? Doesn't sound so enticing anymore does it

Edit: I didn't grow up in a large city.

2

u/seaspirit331 Dec 08 '21

Holy shit that was a stupid move, drawing on someone already pointing a gun at you.

Glad it worked out alright, but thay could have ended way worse over a robbery that would have cost him $200

Is it within the clerks rights to just decide to try and kill them right there? I mean yes it is self defence, but they didnt look like they were gonna harm him so long as they got the money?

Edit: thank you to those who answered, but I feel the need to clarify: As a person who is not american I ask this question for clarity. Not to bitch or hate on laws or american customs, but rather to learn.

10

u/Mylozen Dec 09 '21

You threaten someone with a gun you absolutely deserve return fire.

7

u/GlobalPhreak Dec 09 '21

It absolutely is. Self defense.

5

u/kriegmonster Dec 08 '21

There is no way of knowing if what they say is true. If they got the money, maybe they'll leave you unharmed, maybe they wont. If you are threatened with a deadly weapon, you can defend yourself with deadly force. You don't have to give a warning.

This clerk handled it calmly and smoothly. He pulled the cash reached for a paper bag and grabbed a gun instead. He didn't hesitate because they already had guns drawn and they could have fired first. Once they were in full flight he stopped firing. I hope he handles the fallout well and can get counseling if he needs it.

2

Funniest shit I swear :D Like, I live in an Eastern European shithole. I grew up here, in the fucking rural area. Never in my life did I need even fucking pepperspray.

To think my country has better public safety than the US, that is, you know, a superpower?
