To quote myself playing Kerbal Space Program, "We will not be going to space today."

If your IMO is upside down, you will not go to space today.

They say space is hard, so you know that it's OK,

that your rocket just crashed into the ground and you didn't go to space today.

I’m pretty sure this was a Russian Proton rocket, the IMU’s (Inertial measurement unit) were installed upside down

Yes it was Russian

“What are you, a rocket scientist?” “Hell no.” “I like your honesty. You’re a straight shooter. We want you to head up our rocket program.”

This is why you make sure launch control is a ways away from your launch site

It simultaneously went tits up & dick down.

Launch control just saw a spider in their car, then it disappeared.

1

u/inadril Dec 08 '21

Aw, they forgot to turn of the “return to sender” mode again.

Money blowing up, just like fireworks..except aesthetically pleasing(?) in a different way.

The day the US has to actually use the nuks that havent really been maintained well since the 50s

4

u/oldpricklybastard Dec 08 '21

You surely don't believe that they aren't maintained do you?

1

u/animefan1520 Dec 08 '21

There was a launch site or sites where not operational for years before a random safety inspection a few years ago so i made joke incase remember

1

u/oldpricklybastard Dec 08 '21

Nukes are regularly maintained. Sometimes things go wrong with a launch site but those are really the smallest part of our arsenal. Soooo spending money on a site to be repaired when honestly we don't need it can wait. The actual missiles however had zero issues.

Yea thats why it was a joke
